The Gourd of Wisdom Institute - DLRC

The Gourd of Wisdom Institute's Distance Learning Resource Center (DLRC) is a "virtual reference library" promoting life-long learning and support for educators interested in fostering exemplary pedagogical practices for marginalized students. Our academic resources are designed to enhance strategic learning skills among students preparing to enroll in/or matriculate through postsecondary or continuing education programs. This includes supporting life-long learners who are seeking to:

  • Document and earn credit for prior learning experiences;
  • Complete continuing education and certified training courses;
  • Meet minimum collegiate level program admissions standards; or
  • Complete associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree program requirements.

TGOW Institute DLRC also includes professional development resources for pre-K-to-12th grade teachers and college faculty. These resources assist professional educators by:

  • Promoting certified training that fosters academic excellence among their students & peers;
  • Helping educators craft individualized professional development plans for skill enhancement; &
  • Fostering an awareness of electronic resources that can support their long-range career goals.

The DLRC's "Participatory Action Research" (PAR) and "Service-Learning for Social Change" references add an additional compendium of distance learning resources. These two dynamic forms of applied social science research provide "best practice" models for actively engaging teams of dedicated students, scholars and community activists in the research, design & implementation of reliable intervention strategies to address social emergencies at the grassroots level of society.
