TGOW Institute's Mission!

The Gourd of Wisdom Institute's mission is to provide quality education programs, supportive action research, and training & development opportunities that:

  • Ensure the development of strategic learning skills among student and community residents that foster their commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning;
  • Enhance the skills and teaching strategies of professional educators, particularly in the use of computer-mediated instructional techniques that support their effectiveness as master educators;
  • Promote community-based problem-solving and development through participatory action research;
  • Expand our knowledge, understanding, and engagement in creative culture, especially music, as a positive force for good; and
  • Address development needs of individuals, communities, companies, and organizations through demographic and policy analysis, strategic planning, innovative program design, program implementation, management, assessment, and evaluation.

Our mission can be summed up into one simple motto:

“Harvesting knowledge that endures for a lifetime!”.

We believe that our partners, our associates, and clients, including the students, educators, and organizations we serve, are our greatest asset. We are fully dedicated to serving their needs. This culminates in a genuine willingness to engage in an on-going series of participatory action research projects to dismantle and change those systems that impede human rights & cultural dignity throughout the world.

TGOW-I: Return to the Source!

TGOW Institute's Vision!

TGOW Institute envisions a world where the attainment and security of universal human rights and cultural dignity are guaranteed!

In support of the vision much of our work has been grounded in the critical role that  education plays in the lives of Afrikan people. Far too often our focus on education has been on ways to enhance our students' competitive advantage over their peers, or on passing standardized tests as the principle measure of academic success on subject matter largely unrelated to the daily lives and needs of students .

TGOW Institute’s instructional design & delivery systems value and promote the virtues of strategic learning among students as responsible members of their community. We seeks to enhance and strengthen these virtues as the cornerstone of students' capacity to become life-long cooperative learners, masters of their own educational development, and committed to a life of positive engagement and service-learning for social change in their local communities.
